A fifth month long survey as part of the beaked whale ecology project took place in September 2009. This work included visual and acoustic surveys to locate beaked whales in Exuma Sound to collect photo-id and biopsy samples. These data will be used to study the population structuring of beaked whales in the Bahamas.

There were 20 days of effort, resulting in 1670km of track line, 43 separate encounters with animals, and biopsy samples from 9 individual whales.
