Board Retreat BMMRO has expanded its Board of Directors to help carry out its mission - to promote the conservation of marine mammals and their habits through scientific research and educational outreach. Recently, a two-day Board Retreat was held in Sandy Point to further develop and strengthen the organisation's three- part vision: 1) To conduct scientific field studies in the Bahamas to increase understanding of species' biology and conservation needs. 2) To disseminate results to influence policy makers and raise awareness and appreciation of marine mammals in the Bahamas. 3) To remain a small professional NGO, proportional to the needs of the Bahamas. Feasible 2, 5 and 10 year goals were discussed, developed and prioritised, and tasks necessary to achieve these goals are currently being detailed by BMMRO's staff. BMMRO's President Charlotte Dunn said "Our Board of Directors is a dedicated, diverse group, most of whom are Bahamians. The Retreat was a great success, and we are now well positioned to expand the effectiveness of the organisation."
